Preparing Your Departure to Cambodia
Essential checklist for travelers and future expats
Essential Information to Prepare Your Trip or Relocation

Whether you are planning a business tourism trip or a full expatriation to Cambodia, here is a practical checklist of everything you should prepare before your departure.
General Requirements
- PASSPORT: Ensure your passport has at least 3 blank pages and more than 6 months of validity. Your visa must always be placed in your current passport.
- PHOTOS: Bring 4 passport photos with a white background.
- VISA: Tourist visas are valid for 1 month (USD 30–35). Contact us to choose the most suitable visa type. If you did not get US dollars before traveling, payment by credit card is usually available on arrival. We recommend obtaining your visa before departure.
See the dedicated visa page. - US DOLLARS: The exchange rate is usually more favorable in Cambodia than in Western countries.
- PHONE: You can buy a local SIM card at the airport exit hall. Packages are available for 1 week or more, including calls and mobile data.
- BANK CARD: For online payments or transfers, make sure your verification codes go to an email address rather than an old phone number.
- FLIGHT TICKETS: Use a Visa or Mastercard in your own name, which often includes travel insurance (limited duration).
- SAFETY: Register on your government’s travel registration platform (equivalent to ARIANE). This allows authorities to know where you are in case of emergency.
- MEDICATION: If you follow a medical treatment, you can travel with your medication just bring the prescription. Cambodia has well-stocked international pharmacies where most medications are available without prescription.
- VACCINES: No mandatory vaccines. It is recommended to be up to date and consider rabies vaccination (optional, precaution only).
Precautions
We recommend saving your important documents: passport copy, login codes, banking info on secure cloud storage or sending them to yourself by email. {callout-block-start} {title}
