The Siem Reap International Airport (SAI) officially opened on October 16, 2023.

Features of the New Siem Reap International Airport

The new Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) covers an area of 700 hectares, with a runway measuring 3,600 meters long and 45 meters wide.

With a total of 48 gates, the airport can accommodate large aircraft such as:

  • A340-300
  • A350-900
  • B777-200
  • B777-300ER
  • B747-300
  • B747-400

Access to Siem Reap Airport

The new Siem Reap Airport is located 50 km east of Siem Reap city and about 40 km from Angkor Wat Temple (Ta Yek Commune, Sotr Nikum District).

A new 24.5 km “Airport Express Road” has been built to reduce travel time. It starts from National Road 6 near the Siem Reap Aquarium.

By car, depending on traffic, it takes at least 1 hour to reach the airport from the city center.

Transportation Between the Airport and Siem Reap City

Tickets can be purchased using cash (Riel / USD) or via the ABA Bank application.

  • Upon arrival:
    • Right ramp (yellow): International departures
    • Lower ramp (green): Domestic departures

The parking area includes 1,029 parking spaces, with:

  • 2 public parking areas
  • 1 VIP parking (east side of the terminal)

Bus, Taxi & Drop-Off Zones

  • Three one-way lanes on the first floor:

    • Right lane: Internal vehicles
    • Left lane: Pick-up zones for 2 buses and 6 taxis
  • On the third floor (international departures):

    • 2 lanes for buses (right side)
    • 3 lanes for private vehicles (left side)
      No physical separations between lanes to facilitate passenger drop-off.

The Former Siem Reap International Airport (REP)

Passenger traffic reached 1,732,428 passengers in 2007, but dropped to almost zero during the COVID crisis in 2021.

The airport officially closed on October 15, 2023.
