What is the Bakong System?
Bakong is an interbank platform that enables easy payments between traditional banks and other financial institutions in Cambodia. It allows sending and receiving funds simply and securely, using either a personalized QR code or your mobile number instead of a bank account.
Bakong was created by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) to unify the digital financial landscape, improve payment efficiency and security, and promote financial inclusion.

Participating banks in the Bakong network make sending and receiving funds easy.
Sending Money
Clients of all participating banks can transfer funds by scanning QR codes, entering phone numbers, or selecting a name from contacts. Simply enter the amount and description, then press send.
Receiving Payments
Create a personalized QR code or use your phone number to receive money. Scan and confirm to complete transactions.
Payments for Purchases
Pay quickly and securely at popular stores and establishments in Phnom Penh.

Find "BAKONG SYSTEM" under Transfers:
- Go to TRANSFER
- Enter your ABA code
- Select "Transfer to local banks and Wallets"
New! Bakong Tourists
Digital QR CODE payment solution for tourists via the Bakong Tourists app.
Tourists can pay purchases (up to 12 million riels/day, approx. $3,000) by scanning QR codes at over 3 million locations.
Steps:
- Download Bakong Tourists app
- Register and complete email verification. If no local phone number, travel agents or hotels can verify identity.
- Choose a Bakong bank to deposit and transfer money, or receive funds via QR code/phone number.
Soon, it will also be possible to top up the Bakong Tourists account using a credit card.
